In May 2016 one of my friends in Georgia, Sandro, started a business, offering guided tours in Georgia on old Soviet motorbikes with sidecar.
I know Sandro from the time when I worked and lived in Georgia and advertised his company Ride East on some German internet boards. Thomas and Martin, two German sidecar riders, were attracted and we decided to do Sandro’s first commercial tour from 1st to 6th May 2015 together.
I took the photo on the fifth day of the tour, just after we visited the famous cave monastry David Gareji, located next to the border to Azerbeijan.
It shows Sandro, Martin and Thomas discussing which direction to go, whilst Thomas’ and Martin’s wives and my daughter sit in the sidecars, waiting for a decision.
I took the photo with my Canon EOS 1000D and the kit lens Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6. Aperture: f/3.5, ISO: 100, Shutter Speed: 1/1250, Focal Length: 18/1. The photo was processed with Adobe Lightroom CC, mainly to adjust the colours and crop the photo.
Although today I know that I made a lot of mistakes when taking this photo, it is one of my all time favourite photos hence it reflects the character of this amazing Georgia tour very well.
